I recently had the opportunity to talk with Mike Girardin, Director of E-commerce for Silver Jeans Co
. (an extension of family-owned Western Glove Works) which retails fashion-forward, affordable denim to customers in over 30 countries across North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. In addition to a large wholesale business, Silver Jeans runs a successful e-commerce business with an online presence in both the U.S. and Canada.
Mike shared that they saw an opportunity to increase online revenue
by improving the performance and relevancy of their on-site search results and ability to effectively merchandise product. Silver Jeans runs on Magento, which meets their overall e-commerce needs, but the native site search feature doesn't offer the same robust features and out-of-the-box relevancy as a third-party site search provider.
The Silver Jeans team evaluated multiple site search solutions and the right technology partner.

Hawk Search Technology & Team Delivers the Solution
One of the most important criteria in the selection process was to find a platform that was flexible and a support team that was willing and excited about solving unique business requirements.
“We really looked for a full-service provider that would really partner with us and take the time to understand our business requirements,” said Girardin. “Throughout the process, the Hawk Search team was engaged and really listened to our needs; the partnership is real and wasn’t just part of a sales pitch.”
The results speak for themselves. Silver Jeans reported that, after implementing Hawk Search, search sessions are up 63%, transactions resulting from search have doubled, and revenue from searchers has increased by 2.5 times. The average conversion rate for visitors who search is 8.5%, an increase of 28%.
In addition to increasing revenue, the Hawk Search team built a custom solution to streamline the merchandising tasks across the U.S. and Canadian website resulting in significant time savings and improved productivity.
Another fun fact about the Silver Jeans implementation: Mike shared that the out-of-the-box relevancy and enhanced customer experience was such an improvement over the existing solution that Silver Jeans Co. made the call to implement Hawk Search right before Black Friday 2015, a time of year when most retailers are in "code freeze." The roll out was seamless and transparent to the end user; the company saw positive results immediately.
